A letter from the Poet -
Hello & Welcome.
My name is … we’ll get back to that part.
Long story short.. I never thought about the idea of sharing my work.. let alone call myself a Poet.
I am twenty five years old.
I am the ‘middle’ child of 4 siblings.
A son.
A friend.
A companion.
I have been the shoulder to lean on when it was most needed by others.
& for the most part of my life, I have survived alone.
My debut poem focuses on the hardships that I have dealt with - within my adolescent years. I find out the truth about some untold secrets, I talk about an estranged relationship that took far too many years to break free from, yet having this ability to create art and expressing how I transitioned to the present man that I am today - is the real story. I wanted this piece to reflect on my emotional state of not having a father figure in my life and what abandonment felt like to a child who only wanted to be loved. As a man, pouring my heart out is typically not the first thing people expect - but I thought I could attract my readers not only with my story, but also with my clever rhyming scheme.
Luckily, I was given the opportunity to showcase my work & be the first addition to the Krystle Carrissa blog. Krystle Carrissa is the founder of KC #bloggerandherbaes and her mission for this collaboration is to raise awareness to the arts, self expression and self growth.
She just so happens to also be a very special person to me.
(Thanks boo).
I hope you enjoy my first piece.
Stay tuned x
